βI lift my eyes to you, O God, enthroned in heaven.
We keep looking to the Lord our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.βββ

My two daughters, when they were little girls, would watch me very carefully. Whether I was cooking, cleaning, putting on make up, fixing my hairβ¦the activity didnβt matter to them. They watched intently and later I would notice them imitating what they had seen.
They loved and trusted me so much that if I did something, they wanted to do it and do it the exact same way I had.
They also watched me intently when we went out visiting neighbors, to church, or to a restaurant. They knew I would give them cues; looks to keep them on track and in line. One look from me and they knew if they were out of line.
Psalm 123:1-2 reminded me this is how we are to watch our Lord- intently and obediently. We are to watch Him so closely that we imitate Him. We are to look so closely at Him that even the slightly nudge from His direction corrects our wayward hearts and draws us back to Him.
Our Heavenly Father loves us so much and wants good for us. He is the orchestrator of every single moment of our lives. He is the orchestrator of everything in the entire world.
So, we must watch Him intently! He will never lead us astray. He will lovingly lead us in the way of life and truth.
βJesus told him, βI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.β

I smile to myself remembering those intent little stares on the faces of my daughters. I want to look at Jesus just like that!
