Amen! I use it daily as an affirmation when I strongly agree with a social media post or comment and to close my prayers and blessings over meals, but its meaning is far more rich.
As a term of determination or resignation, “so be it” says so much more than yes or okay. There is finality in every syllable of this amen.
In Old Testament times, the term validated business transactions, acknowledging the stated terms as agreed upon fact. Simply stated, “it is so,” or “let it be as you say.”
“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)
“Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20)
Biblical translations vary their usage with “truly,” or “verily” in the King James. Deuteronomy 27 is a recitation of the Law in which the people are commanded to respond “Amen” after each statement, voicing their corporate agreement and vowing their obedience.
The Psalmist uses the amen to highlight the absolute truth about who God is in the midst of his emotional appeals.
New Testament writers begin their epistles with a greeting in the name of Jesus, giving honor due to God in similar fashion, but in the Revelation given to John on the isle of Patmos, Jesus reveals Himself as “the Amen.”
““To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.”
Revelation 3:14 NIV

““Here is what I command you to write to the church in Laodicea.
Here are the words of Jesus, who is the Amen.
What he speaks is faithful and true.
He rules over what God has created.”
Revelation 3:14 NIRV

““Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea.
This is the message from the one who is the Amen—the faithful and true witness, the beginning (*or the Ruler or the Source) of God’s new creation:”

The languages of Scripture are rich with meaning beyond what our modern languages can communicate. Multiple translations combine to aid our understanding. Hebrew scholars write that when we use the amen, we acknowledge truth by placing it at the end of a statement. When Jesus taught, He often prefaced His statement with the Amen, calling our attention to His Words as simultaneously representing Himself, and therefore God the Father as Truth.
“Jesus said to them,
“Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.””
John 8:58 NASB1995

“Jesus said to them,
“I give you this eternal truth:
I have existed long before Abraham was born, for I AM!””
John 8:58 TPT

“Jesus explained,
“I am the Way,
I am the Truth,
and I am the Life.”
John 14:6 TPT

Jesus, who is God’s “Amen,” revealed Himself as Truth. He is the “Author and Finisher of our faith,” (Hebrews 12:2) “the First and Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation22:13) “Through Him, God created everything. He existed before anything else, and He holds all things together.” (Colossians 1:16-17) In Him, all of creation and every promise of God finds fulfillment!
“God has made a great many promises.
They are all “Yes” because of what Christ has done.
So through Christ we say “Amen.”
We want God to receive glory.”
2 Corinthians 1:20 NIRV

So my Amen and your Amen are spoken to the glory of God because of what Jesus has done. The Amen of God is the absolute Truth of God, the one and only Way to God, and when we are in Him, our praises, our joy, our worship, and our obedience affirm Jesus as Lord.
“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge!
How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!
For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory.
All glory to him forever!
Amen.”
Romans 11:33, 36 NLT

“Glory to him in the church
and in Christ Jesus
through all generations
forever and ever!
Amen.”
Ephesians 3:21 NLT

“Praise the Lord forever!
Amen and amen!”
