Nothing Is Certain, Or Is It?

In my experience, babies sleep through the night when they are ready and each child is different. Like us, they have good days and not so good days, but one thing I’ve learned and I try to encourage my girls with this truth- appreciate, even celebrate each milestone, just don’t depend on it. Even the best of sleepers has a restless night or week. The happiest babies have the occasional tantrum and just as soon as you get into a good routine, somebody gets sick or you go on vacation and you’re back to square one. Life is just that way.

“Accept the way God does things, for who can straighten what he has made crooked?

Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.

Remember that nothing is certain in this life.”

There are no ifs in Jesus’s warnings. We most certainly will have trials and sorrows. Each new day brings sufficient trouble of its own, but God’s love is steadfast and His tender mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23) The ultimate certainty is that eternity awaits each individual, and it is not God’s plan or purpose that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.

“They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

“Who has made that happen?

Who has carried it out?

Who has created all the people who have ever lived?

I, the Lord, have done it.

I was with the first of them.

And I will be with the last of them.””

“But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient, always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.”

So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.”
