He Causes Us To Remember

There’s nothing worse than a sick baby except a sick momma with a sick baby. The stomach bug caught up with us somewhere on Sunday and by Monday evening, we knew we were all in for a long night. Babies try so hard to be happy even when they’re feeling awful. They want to play. They want to eat. They just don’t understand when their little bodies won’t cooperate. We do everything in our power to help them rest, knowing it’s the best thing for them. It’s what’s best for us but still we fight it.

““Be still, and know that I am God!

I will be honored by every nation.

I will be honored throughout the world.””

Psalms 46:10 NLT

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”

Psalms 46:1 NLT

“He remembered us in our weakness.

His faithful love endures forever.”

He remembers us in our weakness and He causes us to remember Him as well. As waves of nausea swept over me last night, my mind circled back two years. April was the fourth month of my chemotherapy and though I struggled with nausea, I was never actually sick. God met me in this one miserable moment and gave me a heart full of praise for another. None of us really knows suffering as the first disciples experienced, certainly not me, but anything we suffer can draw us closer to the One who is able to help us.

“Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”

Romans 8:18 NLT

We live in a land of shadows, (Hebrews 10:1) yet we are being made new, conformed to the image of the One and only Son of the Father. We are not what we will be on the day of His return, but praise God, in Christ, we are not what we once were! There is evidence of new life all around us and in us, and in just a few days, we will celebrate the rebirth of the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29)

“And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”

2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT

“Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant?

(Even) If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the Lord and rely on your God.”

Isaiah 50:10 NLT

“Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.

His righteousness never fails.

He causes us to remember his wonderful works.

How gracious and merciful is our Lord!

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.

All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.

Praise him forever!”

Psalms 111:3-4, 10 NLT

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!

His faithful love endures forever.”

Psalms 118:1 NLT

As you walk with Him, yield more to the gentle pressure of His hand. Let Him move as He wills. He slept during a raging storm because He knew He had power over the waves. He slept for three days in the tomb because He knew He has power over death. As the apostle John recorded Jesus’s command and promise, “Abide in Me, and I will abide in you.” (John 15:4) He is always present, Emmanuel, indwelling those who trust Him. He makes every moment rich with Himself if only we will be still.
