Just Call Me Lolly

Today is a day of celebration! My first grandchild, a boy, was born to my daughter, Caroline Rebekah and her husband, Jacob Matthew. Thomas Jay Bulman arrived today at 12:26, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 21 inches long. His birth makes me a grandmother for the very first time. My understanding of and capacity for love is expanding once again!💙

Thomas, news of your conception helped me weather the storms of the past year with more grace and faith than I knew existed. Waiting for you and watching you grow as your mommy’s tummy expanded to its breaking point is a miracle. You are God’s best kind of gift to the world- His image made new! I loved you before you were born and I will love you always! In you I see all the best of your mom and dad, and I can’t wait to know your unique personality as you grow into all the fullness of Christ that you were created for, fulfilling your unique purpose in your own generation.

Today is a day of long-awaited celebration and thanksgiving! I am grateful for God’s provision for a healthy pregnancy and delivery, for the addition of a baby boy to our world, and for this new family God created when He conceived of Thomas before the creation of the world.

Looking at this beautiful little baby boy, I feel God’s “very good!” In a world where on a daily basis, things escalate very much out of our control, this simple birth reminds me of the Great God I serve, who is still all-powerful and who still performs miracles. Thomas Jay, you are a miracle and I thank God for you today! Amen.
